What is the application procedure?

1. Register for the FilmScore Competition.

2. Watch the films on Vimeo. A link to the films and a password to access them will be included in an email after you have registered.

3. Compose your score.

4. The email will also include details of how to submit your film with your score embedded.

How old must I be to apply?

You MUST be at least 14 and 19 or under on 1 December 2017.

If I am entering with a group of mixed ages, which age group am I in?

The age of the oldest participant dictates which age group the entry should be included in.

Can individuals submit without school representation?

Yes, as long as their age(s) falls within the above category.

If one person in a duo/group is in the West of England, is that sufficient?

The person who submits the application must live or be educated within the South West of England - either Bristol, Bath and North East Somerset, Wiltshire, Somerset (and North Somerset), Gloucestershire (and South Gloucs), Devon, Dorset or Cornwall. Participants from further afield should be listed.

The Final and the Prizes

How will I be notified if I am one of the nominees, or does everyone turn up to the finals and it is a complete surprise?

Shortlisted entrants will be notified directly by email. If you are shortlisted, you will be expected to attend the final at Komedia where your piece will be shown (date to be confirmed).

Can the general public attend the gala finale?

Yes, tickets for all events are available from Bath Film Festival and Bath Box Office. You will receive updates and links in the FilmScore newsletter, which you will automatically join when you register.

Do winning candidates gain free entry to the gala finale?

Yes, for themselves and one guest.

There will be publicity for the final in various media, which you and your parent/guardian consent to by your entering the competition.

How can I stay updated about FilmScore’s developments ?

Check back to the FilmScore site periodically.

Once you have registered, you will receive regular FilmScore emails which will include answers to questions from candidates (that’s you!).

Do I retain the rights to my music?

Yes, but specifically not to the music in association with the film clip; you cannot show or use the clip and music together outside the competition. You are not allowed to upload the film to an outside website either with or without your score.

How do I watch the films?

When you register, you will receive a link and a password to the FilmScore Vimeo page where you can watch the films.

How do I submit my finished film?

Details on how and where to submit your film will be emailed to you after you register.

What if I have a technical problem?

If you have a technical problem submitting your film, or if your question is not covered in the FilmScore Rules or newsletter, please email the technical hotline filmscore@bathfilmfestival.org.uk
