Submitting Shorts to Bath Film Festival, The Rules

 

General Rules

NB: Payment of submission fee does NOT guarantee that your film will be screened. Out of around 200 films submitted, we screen between 20 and 30

1 We accept films made anywhere in the world. For general submissions, we accept fiction shorts (by short, we mean any film whose total duration is over 1 minute and under 10 minutes) and factual shorts.

2 We do not require premiere status. If the film has been featured in other film festivals, it is still eligible for Bath Film Festival. Films are also eligible if they have screened at a theatrical exhibition, anywhere in the world, where tickets have been sold. The Film may have been previously released on DVD or broadcast on television or the internet anywhere in the world.

3 It is the sole responsibility of the Applicant to secure clearance from the copyright holders of any copyrighted materials included within the submitted Film. Bath Film Festival will not be held responsible for the unauthorised inclusion of any copyrighted materials within or relating to the submitted Film. Bath Film Festival reserve the right to disqualify, without refund of any or all submission fees previously collected from the Applicant, any Film with any unauthorised inclusion of any copyrighted materials.

4 Foreign language submissions must be submitted with English language subtitles. Bath Film Festival reserve the right to disqualify, without refund of any or all submission fees previously collected from the Applicant, any Film that contains significant non-English spoken dialogue that does not include accompanying on screen English subtitles.

5 All submissions will be received for pre-selection online only. 

6 Bath Film Festival reserve the right to disqualify, without refund of any or all submission fees previously collected from Applicant, any Film that is not submitted on one of the recommended standard formats.

7 Films must be available to screen during Bath Film Festival 2017.

8 Selection for screening will be determined no later than one month prior to the festival.

9 Prizes are non-negotiable and are not transferable.

10 Bath Film Festival reserve the right to publish, in any media, reviews, articles or stills from any of the nominated Bath Film Festival finalists, in conjunction with the IMDb competitions only.

11 If your film is selected we reserve the right to show your film at a time and date of our choosing.

12 It is the responsibility of the Applicant to ensure that films for screening are deposited with the festival organisers at least 10 days before any scheduled screening.

13 We reserve the right to use extracts from submissions for festival publicity and marketing purposes. Press kits are not required, but are useful, so please feel free to send these with your submissions.
